An Everyday Savings account represents each member's share in ownership of the credit union.
The $5 represents your share in ownership of the credit union. If your account is closed within the first three months, you will forfeit the $5, otherwise the $5 will be returned if you decide to close your account after three months.
As long as you have at least $5 in your Everyday Savings, there is no minimum balance for any additional savings accounts.
