Credit Union West employees embrace the culture of giving through their Jean’s Day Fund. The program gives the staff the option to donate each pay period to the fund and in turn they wear jeans on Fridays. Each year, the employees choose their charities and then vote for four non-profits to receive the collected quarterly donations. In total, over $12,000 was donated in 2014.
This quarter we have picked the West Valley Child Crisis Center as our charity to support. The West Valley Child Crisis Center’s (WVCCC) mission is to be proactive in ending the cycle of family violence through education, prevention programs, and safe placement services to promote healthy family environments for the future of Arizona’s children.
WVCCC finds caring families for children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse, neglect or abandonment. With over 15,000 children in foster care and only approximately 9,000 licensed foster family home beds our foster care system is in crisis. WVCCC trains and supports adults who want to become foster and adoptive parents and assists with matching families with the children and youth.
Donations help WVCCC increase the number of children served through the Foster Care and Adoption Program. We will be holding a drive to benefit WVCCC in September. Please click here for the details and to learn how you can help us make a difference.
