Credit Union West is a not-for-profit financial cooperative, but what does that mean? Cooperatives are democratic organizations owned and controlled by their members – one member one vote – with equal opportunity for participation in setting policies and making decisions.
Our mission of enhancing the quality of life for our members and the communities that we serve is not just a collection of fancy words on a page. We live it every day. We are very intentional in the way we deploy our budget for the good of our members and their quality of life. Our Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee are integral parts of making that happen. They are all volunteers who work together on behalf of the membership to assure that the credit union reaches its agreed-upon goals in the best interest of the membership.
With that in mind, we are looking to fill Associate Volunteer positions. These positions are designed to ensure that potential members of the Credit Union West Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee receive adequate preparation to perform successfully and contribute significantly. Associate Volunteers will gain in-depth knowledge of Credit Union West and the business of financial services to prepare them should they want to pursue a future position as a voting Board or Supervisory Committee Member.
To be appointed as an Associate Volunteer (and to continue serving), an individual must:
- Be a Credit Union West member in good standing
- Display an interest in Credit Union West and a willingness to serve its members through Board and Supervisory Committee activities
- Be willing and able to devote the time and effort it takes to serve as an Associate, on various committees (as appointed by the Chairman), and in various educational programs
- Demonstrate that he/she is a team player who exercises sound judgment
